Even after the new year releases Om Shanti Om is still going strong. Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par has also earned a good place in the box office. The upcoming weeks will see movies like Race, Jodaa Akbar and many more hitting the silver screen. So there will be definitely a change in the box office top five. Just wait for the next update.

Jodhaa Akbar

Ashutosh Gowrikar's Jodaa Akbar is set to release in the later part of this month. This film portrays Akbar the great, as a romantic hero rather than his strengths and righteous deeds. These are some collection of news about the story which I got from the net. This story is set in the 16th century. The movie begins with the marriage of Jodaa (Aishwarya Rai) and Akbar (Hrithik). The Hindu king gives his daughter to the Mugal emperor for political gains. This turns Akbar into a new journey - the journey of true love. From the battlefield where Akbar was crowned as Akbar - the Great, to winning the love of beautiful Jodaa, the movie is impressive. SRK truly a King

King Khan became the highest tax payer of the Bollywood by paying 27 crores as tax. Last year he paid 17 crores and it was Bachanan, who was the highest tax payer. But this time around SRK had a great year which led to the increase in the income. The films like Chak De and Om Shanti Om were huge block buster hits. Pongal Releases

This year for Pongal only three movies are releasing and only one of them has created a hype. The movies are Kaalai, Bheema, Pazhani. Kaalai is a Chimbhu starrer film. It also stars Vedhika, Nila, Sangeetha and Seema. The movie is directed by Tharun Gopi. But the much awaited movie is Bheema. It was set to release last year itself but it got postponed and is now about to be released (Let's hope so). The main casting is by Vikram and Trisha. It also includes Prakash Raj and Raghuvaran. The final movie is Pazhani. It is a Perarasu movie. Bharath is the hero of the film.

Delhi Car-nival

New Delhi Auto Expo 2008 show cased brand new small cars. Most of them were in the concept stage. The companies like Maruthi, Bajaj and TATA were set to show case their concept vehicles. Maruthi's vehicle (A-star) was brilliant with cool finish and new design. Bajaj's entry into the four wheeler market wass marked by its concept car which was designed and developed fully in India. Bajaj and MAruthi took the lead by introducing their small cars before TATA, thereby forcing them to take the back seat. Even though the concept car, A-Star, of Maruthi was expected to be priced above 1 lakh margin, it attracted many car lover's attention. Sumo's new variant "Grande" was also launched. Tata today launched its "people's car" which set to open the car market for the middle class people. All the cars were scheduled to launch in mid next year. Totally it was treat for most of the car lovers of the country

Rajini in Robot

'Robot' is all set to become grand and entertaining film ever made in Indian cinema. The movie will be simultaneously produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. 'Robot' will have the state-of-the-art technology.

As far as 'Robot' is concerned, it is like a roller coaster ride for the movie, as Shankar has been contemplating with many names for his dream project. First it was said that Kamal Haasan would act in it. Then Vikram’s name surfaced. Post ‘Sivaji’, we heard that Hrithik Roshan would be the dream hero. Then came the name of Aamir Khan. Finally Shankar made an official announcement that it would be Shahrukh Khan, who would don the role in his most intimate project.

However, it came as a setback to the director when Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan had pulled out from the project. Some leading Tamil magazines speculated that Ajith would be roped in. but finally superstar has agreed to act in the movie and that puts an end to all speculations about the project.

Since the project would cost hundred crore rupees, it goes without saying that it needs a star like Rajini, who has incredible market value, to redeem the money and ensure profit for the investors

Bheema audio released

Another Vikram - Harris combination. The much-awaited audio of Vikram-starrer Bheema will be out on 10 August. The movie starring Vikram and Trisha in lead roles is directed by Lingusamy and produced by A M Rathinam.

Bheema has musical score by Harris Jeyaraj and the album reportedly has half-a-dozen songs.

According to Lingusamy, “The song Mudal malai has been shot in Switzerland. Another number Ragasiya kanavugal, at the Tirumalai Nayakkar Mahal in Madurai. A song that goes Rangu Rangamma has been shot on a ship at Tuticorin. A ship engaged exclusively for this song was modified to suit the jazzy number that features actors Vikram and Sherin”.

For another song Tiru paarvaiyaalae the crew had to change the sets after listening to Harris’ final version of the song.

“After listening to the basic tune, I wanted a particular set and we went ahead with it. But the final version was mind blowing and demanded much more than that”, adds Lingusamy.

This film brings together Lingusamy and Harris for the first time.

Ajith a proud father

The wait is over! Ajith and Shalini are now blessed with a bundle of joy. Shalini gave birth to a girl child in the early hours (1.40 AM. - 2.10 AM) of today.

Shalini was admitted in Apollo Hospital in Chennai yesterday morning. The child was born after a caesarian operation. Both the mother and child are in good condition, confirm the sources close to the couple.

The couple couldn’t have had a better New Year gift. Ajith, who is basking in the glory of the success of his latest film ‘Billa’, is on cloud nine. The couple is quite happy to have a new entrant in their life.

It’s worth recalling that Ajith said in a press meet conducted prior to the release of ‘Billa’ that he or Shalini had no choice regarding the gender of the baby. “We want the child to be healthy”, was his response.
